On April 25 and 26, 2017, Connecticut Community Foundation will host its fifth annual online community giving event, Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills, and nonprofit organizations who provide services in the region are invited to participate. Participating agencies can receive substantial dollars while also raising awareness for their vital work through the broad media exposure and marketing reach generated by hundreds of local businesses, individuals and organizations leading up to and during the event.
Since the first event in 2013, Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills has raised $3.1 million in unrestricted funding for nonprofit organizations in the region. Ion Bank Foundation is the presenting sponsor for the fifth consecutive year.
Throughout the 36-hour give-a-thon, donors make online contributions at a single web site—www.GiveLocalCCF.org. Importantly, every gift made during Give Local is stretched further with bonus funds contributed by Connecticut Community Foundation and other event sponsors. The more money an organization raises from its donors, the more bonus funds it will receive. Nonprofits may win cash prizes, too.
“Nonprofits benefit from this event in so many ways! In addition to raising unrestricted funds, many participating organizations surpass their fundraising goals, engage new donors and raise community awareness of their missions as a result of this vitally important event,” comments Paula Van Ness, president and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation.
Nonprofit organizations serving towns in the Foundation’s 21-town area are encouraged to participate and can register any time before April 3. Organizations outside this service area can apply to participate by March 15.
