DESCRIPTION:Practice of Equity Cohort – Information Session\n \nVirtual Session\nWednesday\, June 17\, 2026\n10:00 – 11:00 a.m.\n\nThe Practice of Equity Cohort is Back!  \nThe Practice of Equity cohort cultivates deep learning\, peer connection\, and brave conversations that lead to practice-based shifts on two levels: individual leadership and organizational change. This work is two-fold. It’s about how you show up as a leader and how your organizational practices shift. Both need to grow in tandem for meaningful change to happen. \nWho’s this for?\n– Has your organization identified equity as important but not yet created the conditions to move it forward?\n– Do you want a learning container to think\, learn\, and apply the work in real time?\n– As equity work faces increasing challenges\, are you being called to lead more intentionally in this moment? \nCohort Overview\nThe Practice of Equity cohort will run from October 2026 through June 2027. The cohort will host up to 15 organizations with two participants per organization. The two leaders will do their own learning as well as collectively work on an organizational action project. View the full cohort calendar here. \nWhat you will gain from this experience: \n\n	Expand Your Toolbox: Develop a strategic toolkit of equity practices. The monthly teach-ins will provide you with a tool\, resource\, or practice to implement in your work.\n	Action Project: Each organization will identify an area of work where they wish to advance strategies to strengthen equity and inclusion amid the socio-political landscape and real-world challenges.\n	Strategic Action Labs: Strategic sessions are held every other month to support real-time problem-solving\, strategy development\, and discussion of active challenges in the capstone projects.\n	Racial Affinity Spaces: As part of the cohort\, participants will engage in racial affinity spaces. These are dedicated spaces for BIPOC participants and white-identifying participants to reflect\, process\, and deepen their understanding of how race and identity shape their leadership and decision-making. These spaces are critical to the work. They create the conditions for more honest reflection\, stronger accountability\, and more meaningful engagement when we engage in multiracial dialogue during full group sessions.\n	Peer Learning Visits: Each organization will participate in a peer-learning visit to another organization in the cohort. These visits are designed to deepen learning by exposing participants to diverse approaches\, strategies\, and lived experiences related to racial equity practice. DESCRIPTION:The Maternal Health Equity Blueprint: A Community Convening \n \nThursday\, June 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00  p.m.\nPost University\, Floor 3 Conference Room \n140 Bank Street\, Waterbury  \nWithin Connecticut\, we are fortunate to have a coalition of committed community leaders working on an urgent public health crisis: Severe Maternal Morbidity Among Black Women. \nIn November 2025\, the Connecticut Health Foundation released a report\, Maternal Health Equity: A Blueprint for Connecticut. This dynamic and collaborative report needs to be shared because across Greater Waterbury\, Black women are experiencing life-threatening complications from pregnancy\, especially postpartum. As conveners\, Connecticut Community Foundation and Healthbridge Foundation of Greater Waterbury are bringing you all together with three goals in mind: \n1. Hearing and Learning from the leaders who shaped the Blueprint; \n2. Learning how organizations and champions are incorporating the Blueprint into their work and improving outcomes for Black women throughout Greater Waterbury; \n3. Supporting the formation of new relationships and discovering potential partners to support each other’s work – all in service of meeting the Blueprint’s ambitious but possible goal of reducing severe maternal morbidity among Black women in Greater Waterbury by 50% over the next three years. \nWe do not do the programmatic work; we do not provide care for nor treat pregnant women; yet\, what we can do and should do is serve as a convener and funder of this important work.  We know that there are directors\, doulas\, midwives\, nurses\, physicians\, professors\, and so many others among us who care about Black women\, who are addressing structural racism and the other drivers of far too many inequities\, and we should convene a space for all of us to get into the same room and learn from each other.  \nAs conveners\, we invite you to join us and hear from leaders doing the work! \nPlease RSVP below by Thursday\, May 28. \nPrint

Together\, we’ll explore the history and impact of how local women have been catalysts for our region.  \nThis complimentary event will feature a presentation by Barbara Bradbury-Pape\, Director of Leadership giving for the United Way of Waterbury. In addition\, we will unveil this year’s theme\, and connect with other community-minded women. When we give together\, we transform lives. \nAbout our presenter: \nBarbara is the Director of Leadership Giving for the United Way of Greater Waterbury. Prior to that\, she worked as a development director for other local area nonprofits. Barbara has served on the boards of The Litchfield Historical Society\, the CT League of History Museums\, Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust\, the New Britain Museum of American Art\, and the Connecticut Community Foundation. She has an undergraduate degree in history and art history from St. Lawrence University and a master of American History from Tufts University where she focused her studies on late nineteenth and early twentieth century immigration and women’s history.  \nYou are the difference. DESCRIPTION: \nNonprofit Info Session: How The SEAT Program Can Help You Build Your Board\nJoin Us May 29th on Zoom\n12:15 PM – 1:15 PM\nJoin us on May 29th to learn how your organization can benefit from the SEAT Program. \nSEAT is a program designed to increase diversity and inclusionary efforts of nonprofit boards by equipping and presenting residents from Black and Latino neighborhoods for board service. Gained skill sets include identifying transferrable skills\, understanding nonprofit structure\, understanding board governance\, and preparing for board engagement. \nOver the course of 8-Weekly sessions\, SEAT trains Black and Latino residents from Greater Waterbury on board service. Upon completion of the training program\, participants are connected to local nonprofits who are interested in building their board of directors. Residents are trained in identifying their transferable skills\, the basics of fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities of a board\, and best practices for board engagement. \nThe Information Session will: \n\n	Provide an overview of how the program works\n	Describe the training program provided to the SEAT candidates\n	Outline the Meet & Greet and aspects of board recruiting through the SEAT program\n	A timeline for the upcoming Greater Waterbury cohort including timing for interested nonprofit boards to submit the SEAT NPO application.\n\nThe program leads are Kim Bianca Burgess of VCL Consulting Group and Dorothy Adams\, a nonprofit financial management consultant. \nREGISTER TODAYPrint
