Wanda Y. Correa

Wanda leads the Connecticut Community Foundation’s program department focusing on grantmaking, community leadership and evaluation.

Wanda brings extensive experience in service with communities in the areas of philanthropy, leadership development, legislative policy and legal resolutions. Her advocacy for communities has not just been to highlight and address the challenges, but to lift up their strengths as well in order to develop and implement effective, collaborative, inclusive and equitable strategies.

Before joining the Connecticut Community Foundation, Wanda was a senior community impact and senior development officer for the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. She led the development, implementation and management of the Hartford Foundation’s groundbreaking Greater Together Community Funds, a program of town-based participatory grantmaking funds that promote inclusive civic engagement by allowing town residents to decide how grant dollars will be used in their communities. In addition, Wanda worked with individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit organizations to help them define and fulfill their philanthropic goals. She was the staff liaison for the Latino Endowment Fund and led the efforts that resulted in the establishment of the Black Giving Circle Fund at the Hartford Foundation.

Before working at the Hartford Foundation, Wanda served as director of the Hartford region’s largest community leadership development program focusing on collaborative leadership and social responsibility and led various nonprofit and municipal initiatives in the region. Prior to relocating to Connecticut, Wanda worked for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, former Philadelphia City Council Member Angel L. Ortiz, and former Congressman Charles B. Rangel (NY) in Washington, D.C.

A staunch advocate and practitioner of community service, Wanda has been a member of various nonprofit, academic and municipal boards and has been recognized for her leadership and service. Wanda received her Juris Doctor degree from American University, Washington College of Law, and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ithaca College. Wanda lives with her family in West Hartford, CT.
