Applications are now open for students residing in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills to apply for college scholarships from Connecticut Community Foundation for the 2018-19 academic year. Most scholarships are renewable for up to four years.
As one of the largest college scholarship providers in the region, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships since 1989 thanks to the generosity of donors who have established more than 130 scholarship funds to benefit area students. In 2017, the Foundation awarded nearly $940,000 in scholarships to more than 420 students.
New, current or returning college students of any age are encouraged to apply for college scholarships through the Foundation. First-time applications to the Foundation are due by March 15. Applications for renewals of previously-awarded scholarships are due by February 15.
The complete list of available scholarships, criteria for each and online applications are available at www.conncf.org/apply-scholarships.
The Foundation also provides college scholarship funds directly to Naugatuck Valley Community College, which the school then distributes to its eligible students. The application for these scholarships, due by September 1, is also available on the Foundation’s website at www.conncf.org/apply-scholarships.
Julie Loughran, president and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation, said, “Over many decades, donors have established scholarship funds with the Foundation so generations of young people in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills could realize their college dreams and succeed. Thanks to their wise investments, area families, our workforce, and indeed our entire region, are stronger.”
