Applications are now open for students in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills to apply for college scholarships from Connecticut Community Foundation for the 2017-18 academic year. Most scholarships are renewable for up to four years.

As one of the largest college scholarship providers in the region, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships since 1989 thanks to the generosity of donors who have established over 130 scholarship funds to benefit area students. In 2016 alone, the Foundation awarded over $920,000 in scholarships to more than 400 students.

High school seniors or current or returning college students are encouraged to apply for college scholarships through the Foundation. First-time applications are due on March 15. Applications for scholarship renewals are due February 15.

The complete list of available scholarships, criteria for each and online applications are at www.conncf.org/scholarships.

The Foundation also provides scholarships for students attending Naugatuck Valley Community College; the application, due in August, will be available shortly on the Foundation’s website.

Josh Carey, director of grants management, said, “Investing in quality college educations for area students is an investment in the future of our entire region. We are grateful to our donors who share in our vision of providing these opportunities so students, and our communities, can thrive.”
