BRASS – A Community Program for Older Adults

Empowering Waterbury’s aging population to connect, live healthy, keep learning, contribute, and enjoy life!

About The Program

Established in 2011, BRASS is a city-wide initiative administered by the Connecticut Community Foundation and supported by a coalition of community partners dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults in Waterbury. Guided by the vision of making Waterbury a vibrant and inclusive city where individuals can age with dignity, purpose, and connection, BRASS engages residents 60 years of age and older through a wide array of social, educational, cultural, and wellness programs. These programs are offered at no cost to members and are delivered across multiple partner site locations throughout the city of Waterbury, fostering community engagement and supporting healthy, active aging.

BRASS Membership

There is no fee to register for BRASS membership. To be eligible, you must be a resident of the City of Waterbury and at least 60 years of age. To enroll, contact one of the community partners listed as BRASS sites. Once registered, BRASS members receive a key tag that will grant access to participate in any BRASS program or service offered at any of the BRASS sites throughout Waterbury.

BRASS programs are designed to promote wellness, creativity, and social connection. Members can enjoy a range of activities such as guitar lessons, quilting and crochet classes, Tai Chi, Yoga, Chair exercise, arts and crafts, special events, trips, and much more. Program offerings vary by location.
