Public Statement of Connecticut Community Foundation and United Way of WaterburyClear In Our Purpose, We Remain Dedicated To Serving Our Community

A Joint Public Statement from Connecticut Community Foundation and United Way of Greater Waterbury

January 30, 2025

As partners committed to the well-being of our community, the United Way of Greater Waterbury and Connecticut Community Foundation stand united in our unwavering dedication to expanding opportunities for all and meeting the needs of our neighbors. We are focused on the shared goal of ensuring every person has the resources and support they need to thrive, working across all political lines to create positive change.

Rooted in our shared values and anchored by our collective support and advocacy, we continue to navigate the evolving landscape of public policy. We are dedicated to understanding how various mandates may impact the critical services our community depends on and how best to support the leaders of nonprofit organizations that do such important work on behalf of so many.

Despite the uncertainty and confusion caused this week by the shifting political environment and newly signed executive orders, our commitment to local impact remains resolute. We will continue to leverage data-driven insights to guide where and how we invest and mobilize resources. Above all, we remain clear in our purpose: convening our community and passing along the resources necessary to support the outstanding work happening at the local level.

As we continue to monitor developments in Washington, D.C., and in our own state capital in Hartford, we recognize that there is much work to be done. Many stories need to be gathered, and the impact of our collective efforts needs to be shared. Today, we want to highlight the national coalitions that are guiding our next steps, helping us stay informed and navigate a landscape where the need remains great, services are essential, and collaboration is more important than ever.

We encourage you to engage with these resources, stay informed, and become better equipped for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Know that the United Way and Connecticut Community Foundation will continue to stand by you—listening, supporting, leading, advocating, and lifting up the incredible work taking place in our community.

With commitment and solidarity,

Kathy and Kristen
