In response to the devastating floods that struck our community on August 18, 2024, Connecticut Community Foundation has coordinated a collaborative funding effort to support TEAM Inc., which is providing direct assistance to those impacted. This contribution, part of a total of $65,000 donated to the TEAM Inc. Valley Flood Relief Fund, will bolster ongoing efforts essential to aiding those affected by the floods.

According to TEAM Inc. President and CEO, David Morgan, the need for immediate support has been substantial. With 100% of the donations going directly to impacted residents, TEAM Inc. has already begun providing aid through The Valley Flood Relief Fund, including:

  • Delivering drinking water
  • Obtaining propane tanks to power households with elderly diabetic residents
  • Providing pre-paid wallet cards and hotel stays to affected residents
  • Support on a home-by-home basis for cleaning, water extraction and mold remediation processes
  • Repair of hot water heaters, boilers/furnaces/freezers and refrigerators
  • Providing hotel stays for displaced individuals

Connecticut Community Foundation is joined by dedicated partners in this effort: Ion Bank Foundation, United Way of Greater Waterbury, United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls, Inc. and American Savings Foundation. Together, these organizations are ensuring that TEAM Inc. has the resources necessary to address essential needs, such as personal health and safety, shelter, and other basic living necessities for impacted residents.

“This flood has deeply impacted our community, touching the lives of our neighbors in profound ways,” said Kathy Taylor, President and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation. “Thanks to the generosity of our donors and our collaborative approach, we are in a unique position to respond quickly to this crisis and help those who need it most.”

“We are proud to join this partnership of local funders to respond to an unexpected need, quickly and collaboratively,” said Maria Falvo, President of American Savings Foundation.

David Morgan, President and CEO of TEAM Inc., commented, “Our immense gratitude to the Connecticut Community Foundation for leading this effort. On behalf of TEAM and, above all, the families devastated by the August 18th flooding, we can’t thank everyone at Connecticut Community Foundation, Ion Bank Foundation, our local United Ways and American Savings Bank enough for all their support & leadership in these most difficult times.”

“With the recent devastation that took place in the communities of Naugatuck, Oxford and Southbury, the Ion Bank Foundation is contributing to the recovery efforts for those impacted. This collaborative effort with other local supporters will help residents get essential basic items they need,” said David Rotatori, President and CEO of Ion Bank.

Kristen Jacoby, president and CPO of United Way of Greater Waterbury, explained, “The damage and disruption we’ve witnessed in these communities is almost indescribable, and the need is very real. Coming together with Connecticut Community Foundation and TEAM Inc. as part of United Way’s response increases the support we can provide to those in need.”

Connecticut Community Foundation is dedicated to supporting immediate relief efforts and looks forward to continued collaboration with community leaders to ensure that the necessary resources are available for long-term recovery and rebuilding.
