A New View of Dementia November 6 9 a.m. to 12 noon Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut Southbury, Connecticut Register
Views of people living with dementia and the language used to describe them are changing. Communities, organizations and businesses are finding creative ways to welcome and include people with dementia. The workshop will provide a framework for changes in roles and expectations and how they are making a difference in individual lives.
We will explore “Dementia Friendly America” and “Dementia Friends” national models, Connecticut innovations and a range of ideas worth borrowing including arts-based programming. There will also be opportunities for participants to share their own approaches and successes.
This Engaging Aging workshop:
- Is free and open to professionals working with older people and to gerontology students
- Requires advance registration
- Includes breakfast beginning at 9:00 a.m.
