Through 60 sessions led by Teaching Artists, students will explore multiple art forms and create original work while building confidence and creative skills. 

• Ball & Socket Arts (Cheshire): Free Outdoor 2026 Summer Series: Live @ the Factory – $10,000 for Live @ the Factory, a summer series of 8 free outdoor events, including 6 concerts from June to September, including one featuring the Sean Nelson Jazz Orchestra. 

• Building Legacy And Community (Waterbury) (Fiscal Sponsor: Nest) – Annual Juneteenth Celebration  – $7,500 to honor the legacy of freedom, resilience, and cultural contributions of African Americans since the historic emancipation commemorated on Juneteenth. Through live music, local vendors, and art the Celebration creates a space for cultural pride and community connection. 

• City Youth Theater (Waterbury): Summer with CYT and Fall Afterschool – $17,000 to support a 3-week summer performing arts program providing youth ages 7–18 in Greater Waterbury with training in acting, voice, and storytelling, culminating in a community showcase performance, followed by a fall continuation program. 

• Greater Waterbury Children’s Theatre Corp (Waterbury): Supporting Social-Emotional Learning Through Accessible Youth Theater – $10,000 to support the Theatre’s upcoming children’s theater production and strengthen this primarily volunteer-led nonprofit. • Black Boarders CT (Waterbury): Aspen Bound Trip: $3,000 to support a snowboarding trip to Aspen for youth from the Foundation’s 21 towns. Beyond snow sports, the program will bring together youth from diverse backgrounds, to engage in shared experiences that foster understanding, collaboration, personal growth and learning, including sessions focused on the importance of teamwork on the mountain and how to apply lessons from the experience to their daily life.

• Higher Heights Youth Empowerment (New Haven): HBCU Tour – $3,000 to fund a college tour trip specifically for Waterbury students in Spring 2027.  HHYE will visit Historically Black Colleges and Universities, offering fifteen Waterbury students a deeply immersive multi-state college exposure experience.  

• Waterbury Public Schools (Waterbury): Mashantucket Pequot Museum: $2,500 to support a field trip to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum for students in the State Street Program. The trip will provide direct access to the culture, history, and current perspectives of the Mashantucket Pequot natives, fulfilling a vital gap in students’ civic education. This learning experience will challenge traditional narratives and foster cultural empathy.

• The Center for Empowerment and Education (Danbury): Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Support Services – $6,000 to support victims of domestic violence and abuse with shelter, food, clothing, educational resources, counseling, and mindfulness programs. The organization’s services and programs are evidence-based and free to clients.

• Greenwoods Counseling Referrals, Inc. (Litchfield): Breaking Barriers: Mental Health Access for Women and Girls – $6,000 to support expanded access to critical mental healthcare services for women and girls throughout Litchfield County. Services include mental health assessments, individual counseling and therapy and medication management.

• Malta House of Care-Waterbury, Inc. (Waterbury): Improving Women’s Cardiac Health – $6,000 to support distribution of home blood pressure cuffs and glucometers in the community to increase home monitoring and improve care. The primary goal of this project is to improve heart health outcomes among uninsured female patients by strengthening access to hypertension and diabetes monitoring, education, and care coordination services.

• Naugatuck Valley Community College Foundation (Waterbury): Women of Color Empowerment Collective (WCEC) – $6,000 to support an 8-month cohort program designed for specifically for women of color. The Program aligns with the college’s long-term goals of improving persistence, graduation, and transfer rates, particularly among historically underserved students. Applicants must be women of color, be enrolled at CT State Naugatuck Valley, have completed at least 12 credits, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, and demonstrate interest in leadership development and community engagement.

• Naugatuck Valley Soup Kitchen (Naugatuck): Free Meal Delivery Program – $6,000 to support NVSK’s year-round meal delivery service, which operates three days per week, delivering 175+ fresh, nutritious meals per day. Meals are prepared and packaged at the local Elks Lodge and delivered by a team of 14 volunteers. Funding will go towards groceries and packaging supplies, directly enabling the delivery of approximately 4,255 meals over a 4-month period.

• Save Girls on FYER – (Waterbury): Liberation and Leadership Academy – $20,000 to support core programs aimed at leadership development for Black and Brown girls in Waterbury. 

• Susan B. Anthony Project (Torrington): Girls Circle Support Group in Local Schools – $6,000 to support four cohorts of skills-building support circles for at-risk and/or court-involved girls ages 12-18, with topics centered around empowerment and self-esteem.

We are one of the largest college scholarship providers in the Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills region, thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors over many decades who want to help students achieve their dreams of a college education.

This year, the Foundation has awarded $1,348,090 in scholarships, which will support approximately 450 students in our service area. Awards come from 165+ scholarship funds held by the Foundation.
