Community Forum: Is Connecticut A Great Place to be a Child?

Is CT a great place to be a child?

Did you know nearly 1 in 10 children in Connecticut grow up in poverty? Although Connecticut is one of the wealthiest states in the country, far too many families face challenges that make it hard for children to thrive. Join us for an informative and engaging forum that brings attention to one of the most pressing challenges facing Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills and our state and help End Child Poverty Now.

The session will begin with a presentation on local data, highlighting strengths and challenges related to children and families in our community. Then, a panel of local leaders, experts, and advocates will discuss their insights and potential solutions.

Featuring:

  • Ginny Monk, Children’s Issues and Housing Reporter from CT Mirror, Moderator
  • Mark Abraham, MPH, Executive Director of DataHaven
  • Emily Byrne, MPA, Executive Director of CT Voices for Children
  • Rashida Rattray, Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Connecticut Fair Housing Center
  • Chelsey Harris, Director of Early Care and Education for Waterbury Bridge to Success
  • Kathy Taylor, President and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation

Together, we can work toward a future where every child in Connecticut has the opportunity to thrive and prosper.

This forum is open to the public. Community members, nonprofit professionals, municipal leaders, business leaders, representatives, and the general public areencouraged to attend.
