The impact of adverse childhood experiences is too great to be overlooked. Deepening the Women’s Giving Circle’s current theme of mental health and wellness, please join us for an interactive, eye-opening conversation featuring Dr. Nadine Burke Harris’ TED Talk about the long-term impact of childhood trauma.

We’ll explore how childhood exposure to adverse events influences brain development as well as a person’s health as an adult— and how it all impacts our region.

Dr. Nadine Burke Harris is a Canadian-American pediatrician who, since 2019, serves as the Surgeon General of California; she is the first person appointed to that position. She is best known for linking adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress with harmful effects to health later in life and is hailed as a pioneer in this area.
