On October 28, we at the Foundation were inspired and gratified by the overwhelming turnout and the wonderful community response at our forum titled “This Is The Moment: Shaping the Future Through Responsive Change and Action.” We are thankful to the expert speakers who joined us to share insights from the work they do with nonprofits that serve the Litchfield Hills region. Hosted by Foundation President and CEO Kathy Taylor, our panel included: Berta Andrulis Mette, Executive Director of the Litchfield Community Center; Jocelyn Ayer, Director of the Litchfield County Center for Housing Opportunity; Carrie Lee Bunblasky, Executive Director of Wheels of New Milford; Howard Rosenfeld, Founder of The Farmer’s Table; and Dr. Paul Scalise of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

The conversation was both illuminating and energizing. As we heard from local experts about affordable housing, transportation, health needs, community programming, farmer security, and food insecurity, the connections between these challenges became increasingly clear. Each issue touches and amplifies the others, creating a web of need that requires coordinated, collaborative responses.

Connecticut Community Foundation is uniquely positioned to help turn these conversations into action and to play a pivotal leadership role in addressing these interconnected challenges. We heard the attendees, and we are committed to doing exactly that.

We left the forum inspired — by the overwhelming turnout, by the generosity and expertise in the room, and by the energy and hope everyone in attendance brought — despite the very real challenges our communities face. This is the foundation upon which meaningful change is built.
