Derek Santiago

Derek joined the Foundation in 2020 and provides administrative support to the Program Team. He also had a key role handling special grant initiatives that provided COVID-19 relief to the Waterbury and Litchfield counties. Derek has a professional background in youth development, health, and food insecurity. As a proud City of Hartford native, he completed two AmeriCorps terms of service in Hartford Community Schools. Following that, he worked as an AmeriCorps Program Manager with Public Allies Connecticut. Derek is a Yoga and Group Fitness Instructor with a passion for health and wellness.

Favorite Experience in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills

Derek cherishes his time spent at the Wisdom House Retreat & Conference Center in Litchfield for annual AmeriCorps retreats. Contemplative walks in their labyrinth or reading a book by the garden would help him recharge for impactful community work.
