Scholarships available

Applications are now open for students residing in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills to apply for college scholarships from Connecticut Community Foundation for the 2019-20 academic year. New, current or returning college students of any age are encouraged to apply. Most scholarships are renewable for up to four years. First-time applications to the Foundation are due by March 15. Applications for renewals of previously-awarded scholarships are due by February 15.

As one of the largest college scholarship providers in the region, the Foundation has awarded thousands of scholarships since 1989 thanks to the generosity of donors who have established more than 130 scholarship funds to benefit area students in pursuit of a college education. Individuals, businesses and families established the funds at the Foundation for a variety reasons, from honoring a family or community member to helping their employees’ offspring pursue college educations.

Last year, by awarding scholarships totaling more than $900,000, the Foundation made college more affordable for 420 students attending two-year and four-year schools across the country.

The Foundation also provides college scholarship funds directly to Naugatuck Valley Community College, which the school then distributes to its eligible students. The application for these scholarships, due by September 1, is also available via the Foundation’s website .

To be eligible for any college scholarship through the Foundation, student applicants must reside in one of the following Connecticut towns: Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Cheshire, Goshen, Litchfield, Middlebury, Morris, Naugatuck, New Milford, Oxford, Prospect, Roxbury, Southbury, Thomaston, Warren, Washington, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott or Woodbury.  (Some exceptions apply.)
