The Persbacker Family Fund at Connecticut Community Foundation proudly announces the recipients of its prestigious college scholarships for the 2023-24 academic year. Seven outstanding Bridgewater students have each been selected to receive $4,000 scholarships to support their higher education aspirations.

Established by former Bridgewater resident Victor L. Persbacker, the Persbacker Family Fund is one of the largest scholarship funds available specifically for Bridgewater students. The fund aims to make college more accessible and affordable for deserving individuals who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to community service within the town.

To be eligible for the award, students must showcase an outstanding dedication to community service in Bridgewater and have resided in the town for a minimum of six years. The scholarships are renewable for up to four years, ensuring ongoing support throughout the students’ academic journey.

“I’m incredibly thankful to the Persbacker Family Fund. I am filled with immense gratitude that I have received this award. As the first woman in my family to attend university, it is remarkable that my community supports me in many ways to ensure my success,” said Kayleigh Hendy, a Persbacker Scholarship recipient. “My family is truly blessed to live in such a nurturing environment. This award is proof positive that giving back has both its tangible and intangible benefits, and I shall endeavor to continue to do so in the future.”

Since its inception in 2004, the Persbacker Fund has empowered 31 deserving students with scholarships totaling over $325,000. This milestone reflects the Fund’s commitment to investing in the future of Bridgewater’s youth and fostering their growth and success.
