Josh Carey

Josh helps to manage the distribution of the Foundation’s charitable resources, working with a team of dedicated staff on the development and implementation of grantmaking programs that effectively address a variety of community needs. Josh coordinates grantmaking efforts in several areas (Arts & Culture, Building Equitable Opportunity, Environmental Justice, Pride in the Hills Fund, Southbury Community Trust Fund); he also oversees the Foundation’s college scholarship program, which annually awards approximately $1 million in support to area students. Prior to joining Connecticut Community Foundation in 2004, Josh served as a program officer at a national family foundation, where he developed a deep appreciation for philanthropy and the critical role of nonprofit organizations in addressing a range of vital issues. Josh resides in Beacon Falls with his family and their fantastic dog, Scarlett.

Favorite Experience in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills

Autumn is my favorite time of year and all the delights of New England are right here: hiking through the dazzling foliage, spending a day at one of the many country fairs and festivals, navigating corn mazes, visiting local orchards to pick fresh apples and pumpkins (and, of course, enjoying the subsequent pies).
