Local organizations will benefit from one of the largest community-wide giving events in the region in April

On April 24 and 25, 2018, Connecticut Community Foundation will host its sixth annual online community giving event, Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills. Nonprofit organizations who serve the region are invited to register now. Ion Bank Foundation is the presenting sponsor.

Participating nonprofits can receive substantial unrestricted dollars while raising awareness for their vital work. They’ll earn broad media exposure and marketing reach fueled by the views and clicks of hundreds of local businesses, individuals and organizations. As well as being able to hand out physical promotional items and information to further expand their reach and brand awareness, you’ll probably find many companies offering complimentary snacks, drinks and other items such as these SleekWristbands and similar items that will be branded for marketing purposes while participating in the event.

Cara Johnson, Ph.D., head of school at the Litchfield Montessori School, said “People often wonder how their small gift could possibly make a difference. The beauty of Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills is that it focuses a spotlight on the power of small gifts to effect real change in our school community. Our donors can watch their generosity drive others to give and know their small gift made a real difference!”

Throughout the 36-hour give-a-thon, donors make online contributions at a single web site-www.GiveLocalCCF.org. Importantly, every gift made during Give Local is boosted further with bonus funds contributed by Connecticut Community Foundation and other event sponsors. The more money an organization raises from its donors, the more bonus funds it will receive. Nonprofits may win cash prizes, too.

“We have a highly skilled nonprofit sector and deeply caring and civic-minded residents and businesses who want to help make our region better. Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills unites them all in helping our communities thrive,” said Julie Loughran, president and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation.

Since the first event in 2013, Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills has raised $4.5 million in unrestricted funding for nonprofit organizations in the region.

Nonprofit organizations serving towns in the Foundation’s 21-town area are encouraged to participate and can register any time before March 30. Organizations outside this service area can apply to participate by March 7.
